Comparisons of Interactive and Interactional Metadiscourse among Undergraduates

Interactive and interactional metadiscourse are linguistic features used to maintain the coherence in essays. It involved a one-way interaction between writer reader, thus challenge for Second Language (L2) learners write effectively comprehensively. A study is done on how L2 produced usage compared. corpus of 200 evaluative essays by UiTM undergraduate students from computer science business administration courses analysed based Hyland’s (2005) framework. The purpose find out amount types whether different course groups make any differences their choices. analysis revealed that both more interactive than metadiscourse. most prominent feature Self-mention least Attitude Markers. same Transition shows Evidentials, whereas Frame Markers science. These evidence as importance students’ academic writings awareness shown its usage. This could lead proposition writing comparison secondary schools universities gain fascinating outcomes.
